1. 表示名词或不定代词的所有格
Shakespeare’s plays / yesterday’s news / for goodness’ sake / a friend of John’s / anyone else’s property
构成规则:
1)不以s结尾的单、复数名词加’s
the boy’s book / Mr. Smith’s bike / the men’s clubs / my parents-in-law’s car

2)以s结尾的复数名词加’
the students’ opinions / the Joneses’ house
3)以s结尾的单数名词加’s或’
my boss’s (或boss’) office / Charles’s (或Charles’) brother / Keats’s (或Keats’) poems

2. 表示数字、符号、字母或词形本身的复数
His 7’s look like 9’s. / Make sure that your t’s look different from your x’s. / The teacher had only four A’s in his class. / You have used too many and’s in your themes.
