The petitiveness Report 2009–2010 offers users a unique dataset on a broad
array petitiveness indicators for 133 economies, which together account for more
than 98 percent of the world’s GDP. The data used in the e from leading
international sources as well as from the World Economic Forum’s annual Executive
Opinion Survey, which provides a distinctive source capturing the perceptions of several
thousand business leaders on topics related to petitiveness.
This year’s edition presents the rankings of the petitiveness Index (GCI),
developed by Professor Xavier Sala-i-Martin and originally introduced in 2004. The GCI
is based on 12 pillars petitiveness, providing prehensive picture of the
competitiveness landscape in countries around the world at different stages of economic
