《米》中停顿的翻译研究

摘要:本文根据热拉尔·热奈特在他的《叙事话语·新叙事话语》中提出的对小说叙事时
间的划分,将《米》中的叙事时间分为场景、停顿、概要、插叙、预叙、反复叙事和单一叙
事七个方面,主要讨论的是苏童作品《米》的英译本中对叙事停顿的翻译处理,研究译者葛
浩文所采取的翻译方法和策略及其对原文审美效果和叙事主题的影响。

Abstract: This paper analyzes the translation of the time mechanics in Rice. According to
te’s categorization, the time mechanics can be divided into several types: scene, pause,
summary, ‘intercalated’ narration, prolepsis (flashforward), iterative narration (narrates once an
event that occurs many times) and singulative narration (narrates once what occurs once).
Goldblatt mostly translated the scene in Rice in a literal way. Moreover, he he changed some
descriptions of characters and environment when translating pause. These changes make his
translation more acceptable to the English readers. In short, Goldblatt translated the time
mechanics of Rice in both the literal way and the liberal way. Therefore, the translator grasped the
thematic and aesthetic significance of different time mechanics. His translation focuses on
transferring the whole atmosphere and the spirit of the original, so the characters and the narrative
themes are foregrounded.
