National Standard of the People’s Republic of China
Motor vehicles—Crankcase emission—
Measurement methods and limit
GB 11340-89
1 Scope
This standard specifies test equipment, measuring instruments and devices, measurement method
and test value correction method for motor vehicle crankcase emission measurement and limit.
This standard applies for automotive engines, but not for two-stroke engines in which the
crankcase is a principal part of the induction system.

3 Terms
Crankcase Inlet: Any passage connecting the crankcase to the atmosphere. It is designed to
exchange gases from outside into the crankcase or from the inside of the crankcase to outside.
Crankcase Outlet: Any passage from the crankcase which are designed to carry gases to certain
specified point other than the atmosphere.
Exchanged Gases: Gases exchanged with the atmosphere through the crankcase inlet.
The flow rate of gases entering the crankcase from outside is defined as of positive value. The
flow rate of gases leaking from the crankcase is defined as of negative value (. part of the gas
leakage).
4 Instrumentation and equipment
System
The system consists of PVC valve ( device for positive ventilation of the crankcase ), vacuum,
flow control valve, surge tank, U type manome
