本单元是人教版必修4的第1单元,整册书共五个单元,教学内容贴近现代生活,富有较强的时代气息,教材涉及社会和自然科学,文化知识面很广:名人、历史、农业、诗歌、英国幽默、跨文化交际等,在教学活动的设计上对学生提出了更高的要求,特别是在听力和阅读方面。
第1单元涉及的是人文知识,中心话题是“伟大的女性及她们的成就”,整个单元的热身、阅读等语言知识和语言技能项目都是围绕该话题展开的。单元的第一篇课文标题是A Study of African Wildlife,是单元教学中的重点,一般分两节课进行,第一部分是阅读训练课,第二部分是语法点的讲解,主谓一致是本单元的重点内容。

本次说课的教学对象是一名高二学生,该同学英语基础良好,接受能力较强,属于培优类学生。所以在教学的过程中可以充分调动其自主学****的积极性并针对于高考对其进行能力提升。

suffixes in word formation.
( Enable the students to grasp some rules of word formation to enlarge their vocabulary or guess the meanings of some new words by recognizing some suffixes such as -tion,-ion,-ment,-ist,-er and -or etc.)
-verb agreement rules,especially of collective nouns.
( Feelings and Value :Through the study of this period the students are sure to have a better understanding of the subject-verb agreement. )
